Now that our verses on anger are through we will delve into jealousy…
Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?
I think this verse is perfect in ending our section on anger…
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret–it leads only to evil.
From one of my favorite books in the Bible…
19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
Are we bringing God our best? And if we are not, are we taking responsibility for it? Are we blaming others for our faults? Are we angry when we fall short? Are we Abels or Cains?
3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord.4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. TheLord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.
6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. ”
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”[a] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
Their hearts are like an oven;
they approach him with intrigue.
Their passion smolders all night;
in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
24 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person,
do not associate with one easily angered,
25 or you may learn their ways
and get yourself ensnared.
Happy June everyone!!!
Here is our daily verse…still working on anger.
Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
for anger resides in the lap of fools.
