Its about time

Since it has been around a year since I have been on here, I thought it was well past time to get back in the game. ¬†ūüôā

What a way to start than with this:

The word you are looking for is…”ahhh…maaaaa…zing!”

This awesome creation by McCormick and Schmick’s graced my plate yesterday in all its splendor. ¬†It is huge! ¬†At least to me. ¬†The size of the picture doesn’t do it justice. ¬†It is truly a delicious piece of art filled with mousse and the raspberry sauce on the bottom is delicious! ¬†I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

We then made our way to see Allegiant…which sadly I would not recommend to anyone and everyone. ¬†My husband enjoyed it, but has not read the book. ¬†Very futuristic…almost to the sci-fy realm. ¬†I, being a HARD CORE Divergent fan, am not enjoying all the artistic liberties being put into the films. ¬†This last one is completely different than the book, changed, not just missing parts. ¬†However, it is entertaining.

That’s it for now! ¬†Figured I would start with a nice light, yummy post before delving into politics and such on my first blog back in action.

500

I wanted to do something amazing for post 500, but I haven’t done one of my random posts in quite some time, so I decided to make this a random post of random ideas.

STRENGTH

I am stronger than I was when I began this blog 500 posts ago. ¬†Stronger physically and stronger emotionally. ¬†Physically I have run my first half marathon, followed numerous body building programs, gained muscle, lost fat and am currently training for my first mud event…not a full Tough Mudder, but a 7 mile version.

Emotionally and spiritually I have been forced to grow stronger.  This is a bittersweet blessing as I have seen many loved ones struggle with various serious life issues since I began this blog.  God has shown me so much of His strength, let me rely on it, let me trust it, and let me share some of it.  Despite that it is still difficult to see loved ones in pain.

STINK BUGS

Stink bugs have attacked our home. ¬†We have tried so many tactics to get rid of them. ¬†They themselves are not vicious, but they are cyanide based. ¬†A year or so ago my cat ate one and became very sick. ¬†Sadly she is still sick and I wonder if the stink bug is the cause. ¬†We are hoping that she does get better…she has lots of years ahead of her. ¬†A week ago a stink but landed in our fish tank, and wouldn’t you know that our little Swimmy is not so swimmy since then. ¬†We are waiting to see if he regains a little bit of energy or if tornado like waters are in his future. ¬†ūüė¶

CHILDREN

Of course these little people in my home have changed quite a bit in this short period of time.  They are smarter, bolder (sometimes good, sometimes bad), taller, sweeter, closer to their next birthdays.  Since I am their teacher as well as mommy, I decided to add some fun regular days.  So we now have cooking days on Tuesdays and Science days on Thursdays.  I treasure these days because most of the time I am the one telling them what to do or not to do in school and in home life.  During these special days it gives me a chance to just have fun with them as we do interesting things.  This last Tuesday we made rice krispy treats and tomorrow we are going to make a volcano.

FOOD

I made a wonderful snack discovery today. ¬†Almonds are quite healthy, in moderation of course. ¬†Today on the shelf, the perfect and most delicious way to eat almonds…WASABI AND SOY…oh amazing!

BIBLE

On this 500th post…the most important thing you could ever know:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

 РJohn 3:16

No matter where you are in life or what you are doing, take the time to know the One who made you, suffered for you and died for you.   Study His Word and embrace it.

200

Welcome to my 200th post!  I had taken a little break from the daily blogging to spend some quality time with family and such.  But now I am back for my 200th post (plus a couple extras a snuck in right before adding this one).  And so that being said here are some things that I have learned since blogging, not because of my blog, but just because God is allowing me to learn and I am blessed by Him!

* God is more than enough!  Of course I have known this for awhile, but He continues to remind me gently, and yes boldly sometimes, that He is the center of everything and I only need Him, His approval, His blessings, His gifts.

* Family is everything (after God). ¬†Again, something I have known, but as each day passes I cherish more and more the moments with my family…immediate and extended. ¬†These are the people that live life with you and the people that share the best memories with you (along with the hardest struggles)… and the people I hope to spend eternity with someday.

* Some of my friends are as close as family and so all that I wrote in the previous paragraph applies.

* Stuff is burdensome. ¬†Again, already known, again, each day I realize more and more. ¬†I want to instill in my kids right now how silly stuff can be…but they are so young. ¬†I loved my family when I was their age, just like they love theirs, but they do love their prize possessions as well. ¬†I hope they learn (and really know) earlier than later that their most prized possessions are Our Lord and Savior and the people He put in our lives.

* My body is what it is and if it changes, it doesn’t change what is inside. ¬†This is an enormous lesson learned…and still being learned. ¬†I am not a big person, but I have my areas of complaint physically. ¬†I have gone down and back up 20 pounds in the last 3 years, but I was ok before losing the weight. ¬†Now that I am back up, even though I know I am ok, I still struggle with wanting to be less. ¬†I am battling the fact that I can eat almost anything I want and stay at the size I am at now, which is not a bad size, but may not be the healthiest choice in the world. ¬†OR I can eat a lot less and go down a size, but I would look a little better and be a lot healthier. ¬†Being an active person tempts me to want to just stay at my size, so that is my daily struggle. ¬†Wow…see you can tell I am still learning, but at the end of the day I know my husband loves me either way, I am pretty healthy either way, and I should be working more on changing the inside of me.

* It is just as hard to change the inside of a person as it is to change the outside and it is SO MUCH more important to focus on the inside.  Old habits die hard and are not easy to forego.

* Only the red ICE drinks explode when you open them…the others don’t…why is that? ¬†(I had to throw something light in my life lessons rambling…but it is true).
