Election

This election has touched many a nerve…including some of mine :).

At the end of the day, we have to get down  to the basics…

  1. We have to pray.  If we pray earnestly, God will lead us in our voting.
  2. We have to remember that He is in charge, no matter who is elected.
  3. We  have to remember:
  • There is not a perfect candidate…there’s just not.
  • There is not one perfect human being…and one human being will lead our country…it’s just so
  • There is one candidate who has more of what you value than the rest…there just is.

For me, I have 3 big reasons in wanting the world to change…and they ride in my car with me everyday.  I want the world better for them, starting with this country.

For me, I also have 3 important values that I display on my car that ride “with me” everyday.  Pro-God, Pro-Gun, Pro-Life.  There is only one candidate that meets all of those criteria.  Not a perfect candidate by any means…but one who wants things to change.

You may have different criteria.  That doesn’t bother me as much as it might bother others.  But I will plead with you, as I have on here before.  Please pray before you vote!  And listen to what God tells you…even if it goes against what you “think”…do what He knows.

The Blame Game

  • I am assuming that all the people criticizing the parents (whose child was ripped away from them by an alligator they never saw coming, who they watched leave them never to come back as they fought desperately to hold on)…I am assuming these criticizers never took their children swimming (or wading) in the ocean where with or without signs we know there are sharks in great quantities.

  • Wondering why Christianity is such a big deal to those who don’t agree with it.  Why are you so desperate to throw Jesus out of everything, to get rid of God from a country built on His laws?  Fear is the only answer to that question.  What are you afraid of?

  •  Why is it that the president felt it so desperate to leave his family vacation to talk to the country (or scold us…tsk tsk) about “global warming” but wouldn’t leave a baseball game when terrorists attacked Brussels?

  • Why are most people still convinced that guns are the enemy instead of the people shooting them?  And why are they convinced that if we ban them the people who shouldn’t have them now, will suddenly not be able to get ahold of them when more laws are put in place…and the ones who are safe with them will be left defenseless?

I don’t know what these questions spark in you, but in me it seems like we all (yes I include myself, even if not on these specific issues) are desperate to find someone to blame for every tragedy, accident, or uncool thing that happens in our lives.  Let’s start to look at ourselves before looking at another.  Let’s have some personal responsibility for what we do or say.  Let’s start thinking before adding to drama or trauma.  Let’s put blame where it is due…because yes, if a mass shooting occurs we should blame the shooter, but if a lightning bolt strikes a man on a golf course 3 states away from where his parents live, we should not blame the parents for raising him to get hit by lightning.  And let’s turn to a God who loves us instead of running away from Him.  If that’s not your kind of thing, give it a shot, just for a day…take all your problems to God.  Let’s band together and really know what we are fighting for or against, and who is with us and who is against us.

Back to our roots

What’s right and what’s wrong?  How do we know how we are supposed to act and what  we are supposed to believe?  The Bible warns us that as the years pass, good will be called evil and evil will be called good.  Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20

For those who don’t believe in the Bible, things get even more confusing, because you are already following the laws of the Bible.  Do not murder, do not steal, do not commit adultery, etc…originate in the Bible.  If you have even the slightest feeling that these are wrong things then how can you pick and choose what laws from the Bible to follow and what laws from the Bible not to follow?   If there is any part of the holy book that is true, why wouldn’t the whole book be true?  And why could every person be able to pick and choose which parts he/she would choose to believe?  If every person is able to choose whichever parts he/she wants to obey, what prevents someone from choosing that they don’t have to follow the 10 commandments; that it is okay to kill, steal and cheat…?

Our country was founded by God fearing men and women (yes, I am aware of the controversy trying to prove this not to be, but the documents speak for themselves).  Our country’s roots are based on the Bible.  While some would like to say that the Bible would change with the times, I would have to refer them to the paragraph above.  How do we pick and choose what should last through the years and what should fall to the wayside.  Are we all really willing to risk allowing people to choose evil and tell them they are making good choices?  I do emphasize choices, because just as we guide a child down the right path, we still love that child, even when they do wrong.  We still love children even if we disagree with them.  People haven’t changed so much over time that they aren’t still people.  We should love everyone and help them to have light and be light in the world.  I think that some people equate love with agreement and it is far from the same.  My heart breaks most for some people I disagree with the most!

I am not always eloquent in my writing, especially when I am trying to get points across..haha!  But the following videos are amazing and I urge you to watch them.  Whether or not you agree with them, or me, just give them a chance.  I think they will at least stretch your mind regardless of what you believe.  It is not hard for you to know that I believe in the Bible, that I believe our country needs to return to its roots, that I believe in Jesus as Savior!  But watch these videos and make your own decisions. 🙂

Special News Report

I had about 15 minutes to sit down during the day today.  I sat down with my 2 hour late lunch, put on the tv to not think for a couple minutes, and…there is a Special News Report.  And it was not one that made me enjoy sitting down.  I took it as a sign that I was not yet supposed to have a break in the day.

A leader of a nation should not directly separate the country.  Of course we all have different views.  He may be the leader, but his opinion does not reflect the entire country.  I give credit to the Republican leaders who are standing up for those they represent.  The plan on the table is certainly not one in which the whole country agrees.  It is not a plan that is healthy for the country as a whole and for a leader to point fingers at one side because they do not agree with him is appalling.  Leaders are supposed to bring their people together, not tear them apart.  A confident leader would be able to lead by example, be okay with people disagreeing with him and make a plan to join forces instead of putting the blame on everyone but himself.  It is interesting, the book I just finished reading spoke of how leaders can rule with words.  They can make people afraid of things they should not fear, make them bold when they should be cautious, and make them feel guilty for not following their lead.  Words are powerful things…they can build up…they can destroy.

We all have the capability to discern these words  I pray they are pondered before they are followed blindly.

5.27.13

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

John 15:13 NLT

Many thanks and true appreciation to the men and women who fight for our country, our freedoms and our protection.  Blessings to each one of them and the families who stand so strong and fight the fight at home.  Our heroes are amazing!

God is Still

Well, as many across the country are celebrating, I know a great deal of us are greatly disappointed and saddened in the results of the election.  We prayed for a different outcome.  God has a purpose and a plan…no matter what…God is still God.  Obama can’t touch him.

My human nature worries about the future…worries about my children and what they will grow up in and worries about what they will face.  But, God tells me not to worry.  So I will trust in my Lord, His promise for the future and His hope that is eternal!

Taking things for granted

**Warning…this post may seem to jump from topic to topic, but all pieces are connected**

This is the first fall in a long time that isn’t giving me a feeling of dread.  Usually I get a little weary with the approach of the frigid temps, no matter how beautiful the snow may be.  The older I get, the more I dread the cold.  This year I am embracing fall and hope to embrace the winter as well…cold and all.  It could be because, though the summer flew by, we did a lot as a family.  We accomplished a lot, enjoyed a lot and gave thanks for a lot of things that went the right way.  Was it perfect?  Well, we have the ups and downs everyone else has…watching friends and loved ones go through various levels of struggle, and experiencing our own life stresses.  However, in the grand scheme of the world and what we truly deserve (which is nothing good) we were extraordinarily blessed this summer and I plan to appreciate each moment that is flying by at a very quick pace.  My kids are growing at the speed of light, and the family gatherings and friend outings are amazing, but are gone in an instant.  I know this is why I am obsessed with the camera.  I want to hold on to life’s treasures.  I am determined to look toward the future without wishing today away and not forgetting the precious memories from the past.

There are so many things we take for granted each day.  In our daily conversation if we make any mention of a mother, father, brother, sister, spouse or child, we have made mention of an amazing gift.  And in the extreme situations where they may not seem like a gift, or truly may not be, hopefully the relationship can be healed in one way or another and both parties can become closer to their Lord and Savior.  If we make mention of a home, bed, food, etc, we have been given so much more than so many others, and more than we deserve.

While talking about the gifts we have been given…let’s just go right into keeping those gifts safe and protected.  Let’s take a moment and think of their future.  Let’s stop and think what the future may hold for them if we don’t vote the right way in November…

I will be the first to admit that there is not a perfect candidate…we are all human and each human has faults.  However, there is one candidate that is more concerned with our children and their future.  In a society that is all about me, in a society that is all about what can you give me for free, in a society of entitlement, let’s just imagine the future.  I want a world for my children where they do not need to carry the burden of the country’s debt that is worsening by the second.  I want a world where my children can stand up for the country in which they live without having to apologize for it.  I want a world where my children can stand up for their faith without having to apologize for it.  I want a world where my children care more about others than themselves.  I want a world where my children will help those in need, but that those people may also want to help themselves.  I want a world where there is accountability for actions.  I want a world where people think before they act.  I want a world where people think period.  I want a world where people may not think it okay for their daughters and sons to sleep with anyone at anytime just because it would make them happy for a couple minutes, days or weeks.  I want a world where all children, born or unborn, are sacred.  I want a world with leaders that think more about their people than themselves.  I want I want I want…words I usually correct my children for saying.  I am continuously telling them to be happy with what that have and thank God for it.  I am happy with being free, I am happy to be a Christian and I do thank God for the blessings in my life…I pray that my children may be able to have a stable future in this country.  Please, this election, vote for a change…a real change…a change that will better the lives of our children, a change that will give them hope for the future.  Even if there are things you don’t like about Romney, he is concerned about the American people.  He may not give you everything you want for free.  He may not make you feel good when you mess up.  But he wants a stable country for the future.  He wants the country to be a better place for all of us.  Vote, vote, vote and  vote for values.

Okay, so jumping way back up to the top and appreciating life, I wanted to add this song by Nichole Nordeman…appreciate today, thank God for today, and have a blessed day!

Every Season by Nichole Nordeman

Every evening sky, an invitation
To trace the patterned stars
And early in July, a celebration
For freedom that is ours
And I notice You
In children’s games
In those who watch them from the shade
Every drop of sun is full of fun and wonder
You are summer

And even when the trees have just surrendered
To the harvest time
Forfeiting their leaves in late September
And sending us inside
Still I notice You when change begins
And I am braced for colder winds
I will offer thanks for what has been and was to come
You are autumn

And everything in time and under heaven
Finally falls asleep
Wrapped in blankets white, all creation
Shivers underneath
And still I notice you
When branches crack
And in my breath on frosted glass
Even now in death, You open doors for life to enter
You are winter

And everything that’s new has bravely surfaced
Teaching us to breathe
What was frozen through is newly purposed
Turning all things green
So it is with You
And how You make me new
With every season’s change
And so it will be
As You are re-creating me
Summer, autumn, winter, spring

Leaders

Just a few questions…if you can offer some logical answers I would love to hear!  🙂

*  Why should my children be raised to not be proud of their country?  Isn’t that what are leaders are portraying if they are making excuses for those killing our people and burning our flag?  Shouldn’t we be raising our children to stand up for their beliefs?

*  When Hillary Clinton spoke of our country’s tolerance with all religions from its start, did she remember that our country was built on Christian values?  Did she think that she just may be more tolerant of the attackers on our soil than many were to the owner of Chick Fil A?

* If these attackers truly attacked because of this film (which no one really knows) isn’t that proving the film’s point?

Leaders of this country…I want my children to grow up in a country that has enough defense funds to protect them.  I want my children to grow up in a country where they do not need to apologize for being American or for flying a flag on American soil.  I want my children to grow up in a country where they can continue to praise God and not be thought of as evil for being a Christian.  Leaders of this country…how do you plan to protect our freedoms?
