How Did We Get Here?

It is a simple question.  The answer is really just as simple…we, as a country, have turned away from God.  In this ever-changing world, change is the obsession…what is faster, flashier, eye catching…not boring.  A year ago I would have said, “but truth is truth…apples are apples, oranges are oranges, what goes up must come down”…but in a world where we let first graders decide that they are not the gender they were born as, how can I convince anyone that an apple is still an apple and that truth is still truth?

The truth is our country was built on biblical foundations.

The truth is if I jump off a building, without a go-go gadget copter, I will fall.

The truth is an apple is an apple and an orange is an orange.

The truth is if you live in this country and you are an American,  you should respect the country and the people who defend it by standing up for the National Anthem…and knowing the words doesn’t hurt.

The truth is drugs will kill you eventually if you keep using them, and they will surely hurt those who love you until, and probably after, you stop using them.

The truth is you are the gender you are born as, yes changes can be made after, but not before, and those changes tell God that He made a mistake (a slippery slope).

The truth is abortion is taking the life of a human being.

The truth is we are all sinners, and should love each other regardless of what we think of their personal choices.

Why am I saying all this?  I am saying all of this in a last desperate attempt to keep America from voting for someone who is going to take our country far away from it started…and not for the better.

The truth is Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Gary Johnson, Jill Stein are all sinners, as well…we can’t vote for any of them as individuals.  We need to look past those individuals to their teams (who are also imperfect).  Stein and her team stand for practically everything the Bible stands against.  Johnson has a nice appeal, but he supports pro-choice, and he supports staying out of people’s lives when it comes to drugs.  Its a nice view…the government shouldn’t be too involved in our personal choices…but their has to be a line somewhere, or before long it will be our personal choice whether or not we rob banks or murder.  Being a teacher and knowing the heartache of the kids who have lost a parent to drugs, seeing babies in the hospital fight for their lives because they are addicted to drugs at birth, proves that those “personal choices” aren’t just personal.  Hillary Clinton would be in jail today if she was a normal person like the rest of us, but seems to be the front runner to lead the country…what does that say about us?  Donald Trump is arrogant and obnoxious.  He has made some horrible choices in his life.  I would not recommend you vote for him if it were solely him you were voting for.  BUT…he has surrounded himself with a team of people who have morals and values…and who will try to get this country a little bit closer to where it was when it began.

I want my kids to grow up in a world that is closer to the way the country was when I was growing up…or even before then!  I do not want my kids to be part of the downward spiral the country has been on…and the last decade it has been on fast forward.

The truth is, in this country where I have freedom of speech, this blog could be considered hate…which is so far from what it is.  It is speaking truth in love.  It is a mom’s desperate plea to make the world a little more safe, a little more truthful, a little better for my children and all children growing up in this world.  It is loving people no matter what, in hopes that they will return the favor to me, knowing that it is my job as a Christian to show Christ’s love.  Knowing that He died for me and everyone knowing how crazy this world would get.  Knowing that He died for us…us…us who think we can plan and make things better than He.

And a truthful question is…if Jesus came back today, would we be embarrassed?

Election

This election has touched many a nerve…including some of mine :).

At the end of the day, we have to get down  to the basics…

  1. We have to pray.  If we pray earnestly, God will lead us in our voting.
  2. We have to remember that He is in charge, no matter who is elected.
  3. We  have to remember:
  • There is not a perfect candidate…there’s just not.
  • There is not one perfect human being…and one human being will lead our country…it’s just so
  • There is one candidate who has more of what you value than the rest…there just is.

For me, I have 3 big reasons in wanting the world to change…and they ride in my car with me everyday.  I want the world better for them, starting with this country.

For me, I also have 3 important values that I display on my car that ride “with me” everyday.  Pro-God, Pro-Gun, Pro-Life.  There is only one candidate that meets all of those criteria.  Not a perfect candidate by any means…but one who wants things to change.

You may have different criteria.  That doesn’t bother me as much as it might bother others.  But I will plead with you, as I have on here before.  Please pray before you vote!  And listen to what God tells you…even if it goes against what you “think”…do what He knows.

You are God Alone

So I had my little rant earlier this week in the disappointment of the election.  I had to get it out.  I know God is in charge, He is sovereign, He is King.  I take great comfort in that.  It makes the whole mess of the world much easier to take.  🙂

Phillips Craig and Dean put it perfectly in their song “You Are God Alone”

As of late I think that the citizens of the USA are like the Israelites wandering around the desert.  Even though God is providing for them daily, they cannot seem to put their faith in Him fully and are quick to run for other answers.  I believe that this election is going to teach 2 different sides of the country 2 different things.  1…those who refuse to believe in Him and see Him in their lives and ignore His ways will quickly or eventually come to realize how much they are wasting without Him.  2…those who love the Lord their God with all their hearts and souls and mind will lay all their trust on Him in the times to come and not rely on the government (some rely on government the same way the people of Israel relied on Moses.  God is our only hope…our only answer…our only strength.

I am going to still talk about issues of the election because I still think they are important…crucial even.  If we can continue to pray for our leaders it is still possible to see some kind of change.  I pray that our leaders hearts may break for the Lord, that they may be convicted and that they may use their voice for good.

In terms of war….I want to be defended.  I know the sacrifice these men and women make and I am indebted to them.  They want our country defended, too, that is why they (mostly) do what they do.

In terms of the poor…I heartily agree that we need to help anyone who is without money or food or love…but I do NOT agree that we need to give handouts to those who use them for things that don’t help them get ahead in life.  I see so many people work SO hard to support themselves and their family.  Sadly, I also see a lot of people that wait for the free money and waste it on frivolous or illegal items.

In terms of abortion…I hate it.  I believe fully that it is murder.  Even taking that MAJOR point aside…if you don’t want me to tell you not to have sex, then do not even try to tell me you want my tax dollars to go toward your abortion.

In terms of children…I want my children to love all people despite their beliefs.  I want my children to stand up for their own beliefs.  I do not want my children to bully or be bullied for believing what they believe.  I think that is soon to go away.  They are already expected to be tolerant while there is no expectation of others to be tolerant of them.

That is shorter and sweeter than my rant.

Keep praying…keep hoping…keep believing that God is God Alone.

Selfishness

I am angry.  I don’t often get angry, but I am angry.

I am disappointed.

And I am a bit disgusted to tell you the truth.

The mindset of the majority of people is “look out for number one,”  “all about me,”  “I can do it because I want to and who cares who I hurt along the way,” “it feels right right now, lets not worry how it will feel in a day/week/month/year”

I know that God is sovereign and reigns over all, no matter what the government decides, but as I have said previously, I am sickened by what my children will be “taught” is acceptable behavior, what their friends will try to convince them is good when it is evil, and that they will be persecuted for believing in Our Savior.

After Tuesday I didn’t mourn, because I know God is in charge, but I did get angry.  Part of me was even ashamed to be a woman, because I think many women were fooled by smooth words during the campaigning.  I was not fooled, I did the research, separated the lies from the truth as best as anyone.  Not everyone did…male or female.  Some didn’t want to be bothered.  Some like being selfish and setting our future up for failure because they won’t be here to see it.  Some are just clueless.  Some did research and still voted the opposite of what I did, but at least they knew what they were voting for.

Too many people are saying “I want,” which are the very words my children are scolded for saying.  We “wanted” ourselves into a multi-trillion dollar debt.  Why is no one concerned about this?  We “wanted” ourselves into killing millions of unborn children and having others take care of the medical bill.  We “wanted” ourselves into losing the traditional family as a standard.  I use the term we loosely, because I don’t want any of that.

Even if you don’t believe the words of the Bible, lets look at these issues without using the Bible.  How is debt good for anyone?  The majority of abortions are not for medical reasons or rape, so why should my tax dollars go toward killing your baby?  The statistics are extremely clear that children do better with 2 parents in the household…and they do better with a female and a male role model (aka: mom and dad).  This is not always possible, sometimes parents leave or pass away, but in the instances where it is possible, shouldn’t we do our best for our children?  We should not be killing them or showing them by example that sleeping around is okay or leaving them in debt or making them feel persecuted for standing up for their beliefs.

I know I offended people in this post.  I am sorry if you feel bad, but I am not sorry for speaking up.  We cannot be sorry that people are offended because we believe the Word of God.  I would rather you be offended today and maybe look into what I am saying and maybe escape hell, then live for eternity in hell.  Being offended is much better than going to hell.  You can think I am a horrible person, and you know what?  I am.   I am a sinner just like everyone else in the world.  But, I love people.  I love you no matter what choices you make, because I am no better than you.  I will be your friend, because why wouldn’t I be?  Can you be mine?  If I don’t agree with you, can you really be my friend?  I can love you if you are gay, or if you have had an abortion, or if you voted for Obama…can you say the same thing back to me?  Or is it only okay for non-Christians to stand up for what they believe?

I have some friends right now who are making HORRIBLE choices in their lives…this would be agreed upon in the eyes of Christians and non-Christians alike.  Did you note that I said I “have friends”…even with these choices, I am not abandoning my friends.  Christians are able to be angry at the sin and still love the sinner.

Our country is divided right now.  It is obvious by the election.  It is obvious by the aftermath of the election.  Our pastor is awesome and not afraid to speak the truth and his words this weekend were right on.  The future doesn’t look bright.  I pray that we may not give up the fight.  We still have to make our government know what “we the people” stand for.  And above everything else we have to trust in Our Lord and Savior, because He will lead us Home.

Weekly Update

Frustrated a bit, but it is ALL my fault, so no one to blame but me.

No progress to speak of.  If I followed my plan I would have progress each week.  I truly wish I wasn’t an emotional eater…but, alas.

Between Halloween candy, baking for a slew of friends (with sampling) and the outcome of the election, I suppose I should be glad that I didn’t blow up this week.  Election night was bad…I put a disgusting amount of food in my body.  I am not proud of this.

I had wanted to reach my goal before now, because now I face the holidays.  And starting next week…there is some event or party each week until the new year.  This does not bode well for losing weight.  I am hoping I can convince myself to be good all week to be able to splurge a little on these events.  I will certainly keep you posted…

Be back next week!

God is Still

Well, as many across the country are celebrating, I know a great deal of us are greatly disappointed and saddened in the results of the election.  We prayed for a different outcome.  God has a purpose and a plan…no matter what…God is still God.  Obama can’t touch him.

My human nature worries about the future…worries about my children and what they will grow up in and worries about what they will face.  But, God tells me not to worry.  So I will trust in my Lord, His promise for the future and His hope that is eternal!

Taking things for granted

**Warning…this post may seem to jump from topic to topic, but all pieces are connected**

This is the first fall in a long time that isn’t giving me a feeling of dread.  Usually I get a little weary with the approach of the frigid temps, no matter how beautiful the snow may be.  The older I get, the more I dread the cold.  This year I am embracing fall and hope to embrace the winter as well…cold and all.  It could be because, though the summer flew by, we did a lot as a family.  We accomplished a lot, enjoyed a lot and gave thanks for a lot of things that went the right way.  Was it perfect?  Well, we have the ups and downs everyone else has…watching friends and loved ones go through various levels of struggle, and experiencing our own life stresses.  However, in the grand scheme of the world and what we truly deserve (which is nothing good) we were extraordinarily blessed this summer and I plan to appreciate each moment that is flying by at a very quick pace.  My kids are growing at the speed of light, and the family gatherings and friend outings are amazing, but are gone in an instant.  I know this is why I am obsessed with the camera.  I want to hold on to life’s treasures.  I am determined to look toward the future without wishing today away and not forgetting the precious memories from the past.

There are so many things we take for granted each day.  In our daily conversation if we make any mention of a mother, father, brother, sister, spouse or child, we have made mention of an amazing gift.  And in the extreme situations where they may not seem like a gift, or truly may not be, hopefully the relationship can be healed in one way or another and both parties can become closer to their Lord and Savior.  If we make mention of a home, bed, food, etc, we have been given so much more than so many others, and more than we deserve.

While talking about the gifts we have been given…let’s just go right into keeping those gifts safe and protected.  Let’s take a moment and think of their future.  Let’s stop and think what the future may hold for them if we don’t vote the right way in November…

I will be the first to admit that there is not a perfect candidate…we are all human and each human has faults.  However, there is one candidate that is more concerned with our children and their future.  In a society that is all about me, in a society that is all about what can you give me for free, in a society of entitlement, let’s just imagine the future.  I want a world for my children where they do not need to carry the burden of the country’s debt that is worsening by the second.  I want a world where my children can stand up for the country in which they live without having to apologize for it.  I want a world where my children can stand up for their faith without having to apologize for it.  I want a world where my children care more about others than themselves.  I want a world where my children will help those in need, but that those people may also want to help themselves.  I want a world where there is accountability for actions.  I want a world where people think before they act.  I want a world where people think period.  I want a world where people may not think it okay for their daughters and sons to sleep with anyone at anytime just because it would make them happy for a couple minutes, days or weeks.  I want a world where all children, born or unborn, are sacred.  I want a world with leaders that think more about their people than themselves.  I want I want I want…words I usually correct my children for saying.  I am continuously telling them to be happy with what that have and thank God for it.  I am happy with being free, I am happy to be a Christian and I do thank God for the blessings in my life…I pray that my children may be able to have a stable future in this country.  Please, this election, vote for a change…a real change…a change that will better the lives of our children, a change that will give them hope for the future.  Even if there are things you don’t like about Romney, he is concerned about the American people.  He may not give you everything you want for free.  He may not make you feel good when you mess up.  But he wants a stable country for the future.  He wants the country to be a better place for all of us.  Vote, vote, vote and  vote for values.

Okay, so jumping way back up to the top and appreciating life, I wanted to add this song by Nichole Nordeman…appreciate today, thank God for today, and have a blessed day!

Every Season by Nichole Nordeman

Every evening sky, an invitation
To trace the patterned stars
And early in July, a celebration
For freedom that is ours
And I notice You
In children’s games
In those who watch them from the shade
Every drop of sun is full of fun and wonder
You are summer

And even when the trees have just surrendered
To the harvest time
Forfeiting their leaves in late September
And sending us inside
Still I notice You when change begins
And I am braced for colder winds
I will offer thanks for what has been and was to come
You are autumn

And everything in time and under heaven
Finally falls asleep
Wrapped in blankets white, all creation
Shivers underneath
And still I notice you
When branches crack
And in my breath on frosted glass
Even now in death, You open doors for life to enter
You are winter

And everything that’s new has bravely surfaced
Teaching us to breathe
What was frozen through is newly purposed
Turning all things green
So it is with You
And how You make me new
With every season’s change
And so it will be
As You are re-creating me
Summer, autumn, winter, spring
