I have been waiting over a year for this book, the third in the series.  I am a HUGE fan of the Divergent and Insurgent books!   After waiting so long, I do not feel it is truly fair to rate this book…there was a long and large build up.  It took me a little longer to get into than the first two, but once in, I was hooked.  Veronica Roth is talented!  I did feel that this book read more like a movie than a book, but let’s face it, it will likely be in movie form before we know it.  I hope so anyway!  I figured out how it would end early on.  She left a little bit of room for the what if and I had my own ending in mind that I knew she wouldn’t do, but I completely understand why she ended it the way she did.  It was the only way to bring the series full circle and make a clean and closed ending to the series.  I applaud Veronica Roth for this series…it is captivating and unique.  I do like the first 2 better than the last, but I still like the last, especially for a 3rd book in a series!  🙂  You should definitely read and enjoy!

Alex Cross and Caspian

I finally finished the Alex Cross series…or at least what is there so far.  I have to say, my review of each book isn’t very different.  There were few surprises.  As the books went on, the plots had more depth, but the endings still left a little to be desired.  I would surely read the next one…if there will be a next one.  I chose to not try to figure out James Patterson’s political stance and simply focus on the content.  I became attached to the characters and they were easy and entertaining reads.  Of all the books, I think “Merry Christmas Alex Cross” and “Alex Cross Run”  could actually be decent movies.

I am almost finished reading Prince Caspian to my kids.  They do enjoy it, but not as much as The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  I can’t argue, it is hard to beat the first book in this series.  Prince Caspian is still a great read and we will be moving on to The Dawn Treader upon completion.

Gone Girl

I have been on the library waiting list for this book for months.  I had to take a break from The Clash of the Kings to read it, because I didn’t know if it would be snatched right back up and I would once again have to wait for it.

I LOVED the writing style.  Gillian Flynn is an amazing author and did an amazing job writing the book.  It will be a great movie.

I HATED the language.  I just do not believe that every book needs to be filled with those words multiple times.  Good writers can write without cussing every other word.  And Gillian Flynn is a great writer,  but I still think overused the cuss words.

I was not a fan of the ending.  The book was broken into 3 parts.  I predicted the first part pretty easily, but it was still very good.  The second and third parts were decent…until the end…just not my pick.

No I am back to Clash of the Kings before I return to the Alex Cross series.  I did treat myself to the Alex Cross movie though.  😉
