I know I keep saying this, but God is bigger. Corny as it may sound if life is going to throw us lemons, God is the ultimate lemonade maker. I pray that blessings pour out of the struggles that everyone is going through. It won’t take away the pain, but may show the purpose for the pain. Or at the very least, which is still amazingly great, we know He is with us through the pain.
Yesterday was Joshua’s birthday. It is a tough time of year for me. It is also a wonderful time of year for me. I miss my little guy terribly, but I love Christmas. Conflicting emotions. My husband, the best one ever, took my kids out for a “secret mission” yesterday and they came back bearing gifts of balloons, ice cream and cards. (The ice cream set me off on my emotion eating, which I had been controlling so well…but I digress). It was the perfect gesture. I cherish my family…I truly couldn’t be more blessed by them!
In the midst of sadness sometimes it is hard to find the joy…God allowed them to make the joy very apparent yesterday and I am thankful for that.
My heart still aches for my family and friends who are in so much pain right now, but it also sings with the joy of God’s blessings that I don’t want to miss through the tears.
Eating cleaner, avoiding dyes and eating a bit less has slowly gotten me on the right track. We emptied our pantry and fridge before vacation so it was a good opportunity to fill everything up with healthy foods. My husband has his own junk food stash though. 🙂
My BMI is under 21 now which is good, on the way to under 20, which will be better. I am likely going to start body fat measurements again soon now that my allergic reaction water weight has gone down some.
A couple things that tripped me up with yellow dye were vanilla ice cream and natural trail mix with dried fruit. But, since I have avoided dyes so well everywhere else it was easy to know what caused it and when ingredients were check it was confirmed.
Be back next week!
My family and I went on a little adventure last week and it was pretty impossible to keep up on here as we didn’t bring computers along.
My kids had their first memorable airplane rides, went to a wedding and also the adoption day of my niece. We saw lots of family we don’t get to see very often which is always a good thing. 🙂 On the down side, there were quite a few travel mishaps with plane delays, sitting on runways for an hour for 2 flights, lack of sleep and hotel mistakes. With all the craziness the kids really were troopers. A couple weepy times from lack of sleep but mostly on track the whole time…that makes travelling for parents much nicer!
Some trip fun facts:
- sometimes it is easier to pull 2 roller suitcases with a child riding on each than it is to carry the non-roller huge bear of a suitcase
- everywhere should have a free community splash pad where the kids can run around in their swimsuits and squirt each other and slide down mini water slides…no fear of drowning, but small chance of slipping and falling.
- Chick Fil A lemonade is dye free but there is yellow dye in their vanilla ice cream. 😦
- when given the choice to laugh or cry always laugh
