Alex Cross

Still on my break from Clash of Kings...Alex Cross books are such quick reads and quite entertaining.  I do seem to predict a lot, but that’s okay…they are simple easy reading and work for a busy mom.  I still do not like the language, but I don’t see that changing in the books to come.  I just finished Violets are Blue and Four Blind Mice.  Will pick up the next 2 this week.  I am considering completing the Alex Cross series and then heading back to Clash.  We will see.  🙂

Gone Girl

I have been on the library waiting list for this book for months.  I had to take a break from The Clash of the Kings to read it, because I didn’t know if it would be snatched right back up and I would once again have to wait for it.

I LOVED the writing style.  Gillian Flynn is an amazing author and did an amazing job writing the book.  It will be a great movie.

I HATED the language.  I just do not believe that every book needs to be filled with those words multiple times.  Good writers can write without cussing every other word.  And Gillian Flynn is a great writer,  but I still think overused the cuss words.

I was not a fan of the ending.  The book was broken into 3 parts.  I predicted the first part pretty easily, but it was still very good.  The second and third parts were decent…until the end…just not my pick.

No I am back to Clash of the Kings before I return to the Alex Cross series.  I did treat myself to the Alex Cross movie though.  😉

Pop Goes the Weasel and Roses Are Red

James Patterson finally got me.  I have been enjoying his Alex Cross series because they are quick reads (something crucial when you have little kids around all the time) and they are entertaining.  However, I have said that I find them predictable.  He finally threw me a curveball at the end of Roses Are Red.  The killer is not at all who I had predicted.  And the funny part was I suspected this person in an earlier book and he ended up seeming ok.  I am so so so so so excited now to read Violets Are Blue and see how it all plays out…BUT…I am now in the midst of the 2nd book in the Game of Thrones series…The Clash of Kings.  It will be awhile until I finish that.  This is not a quick read, but I am enjoying it so far.  Too many books, not enough time.  🙂
