10.28.14

Yes I am still here!  Life just recently exploded (nothing serious, just time crunches all around)  🙂

First of all, I want to start with this verse that came in my email a few days ago.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

Talk about a convicting verse!  All of our thoughts and attitudes are judged by our SINLESS, PERFECT, Master and Creator.  If only we could remember that every day.  Remember that not only do we not have any right to judge another no matter how “bad” that person may seem, but how do we stand before our perfect maker knowing that He knows our innermost thoughts, feelings and secrets.  We are not called to judge, but we can hold each other accountable…there is a fine line there we must be careful not to cross.

Something else I have been convicted by for quite some time is prayer for children.  I have been a pro-life advocate for as long as I remember, but it goes beyond that.  We need to do everything we can for children all over the world.  Some of us can help them in a tangible way, some in a monetary way, some with prayer.  I feel that kids need to be the forefront of prayer…our own childrens’ eternity, babies not to be aborted, girls who are sold, children who are bullied, children who are abused, bullied, taken advantage of, and even killed.  Children need to know real love, real hope, real faith.  They need to know their loving Father through Him and through us, through prayers and through hugs, through warmth and through clothing, through kindness and through honesty, and through safety.  Let’s keep them in solid and consistent prayer.

Now, I also was supposed to put health and fitness on here too, so moving onto that, which is significantly less important than what I have typed above…BUT…we do need to take care of our temples, too…so here we go…

I have been doing pretty well with calories and workouts…I now have a Christmas party to add to the motivation list.  😉  Even if your calories don’t change, you will feel so much healthier if you switch soda for water and add some green veggies.  Health is the key, remember.  Health and toning is the goal!  If you have ever heard the saying “Abs are Made in the Kitchen” that is correct.  Granted you have a bit more leeway if you are working out hardcore, but part of being toned is what you put in your stomach.  Some foods will help shed fat, while others will put a nice fat layer over those muscles you worked so hard to achieve.  Switching up workouts also keeps your muscles on their toes.  I have been adding some cardio boxing into the mix, which has been great!  Constant moving, squats, arm and back muscles active, and very fun!

OK, off to tackle the day!  Enjoy yours!

Matthew 7:21-23 ESV

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Romans 8:1 ESV

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

John 3:16-17 ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

The other day I was with a group of people.   The group was a mix of Christians and non – Christians.  One of the Christians in the group is quite outspoken and opinionated.  This person likes to have attention and  isn’t too concerned if anyone is offended.  Another  person in the group quietly takes it all in, as in many other areas of life, but then is quick to make little snide comments about certain situations or people.  They are unheard by most and I am sure there are a number of thoughts for every comment that comes out.  Neither is better than the other.  They are both sinning, one quietly and one outspokenly.  And guess what?  So am I by judging them instead of looking at myself instead of them.

Christians sin.  We are no better than anyone else in the world.  But we love and believe in a Lord and Savior who forgives us; who died for us knowing every horrible thing we would do in our lives.

There are some Christians who come across as judgmental and hopefully their intentions are good.  If you are a Christian and believe in heaven and hell, the last thing you want is for anyone to live in hell for eternity.  So sometimes we try to “help” others come to Christ in a misguided way.  We aren’t perfect.  We love all people, whether or not they sin, because we know we are sinners.  We know we are lost without Christ.  We know we are saved and going to Heaven and just want as many people to come with us as possible.

Wedding Dresses

Yes, I am already married, no I do not need a wedding dress.  😉  I do, however, enjoy watching wedding shows while I torture myself on the elliptical in the wee hours of the morning.

I guess it makes me old, or maybe just old fashioned, but the latest wedding dress fad seems to be the see through bodice  Now, there are extreme wedding dresses in terms of immodesty, with super low cuts back and front, but the see through thing is in a league of its own.  I don’t know about the rest of the world, but I thought that weddings included grandparents and great aunts and uncles…and fathers!  My goodness!  If my grandparents saw me in a see through wedding dress, they might not be speaking to me anymore.  And I think it would be safe to say my dad would not have walked me down the aisle.

It is a small wonder marriages don’t last today.  If the bride is willing to show that much of herself…(and some of these go down to just about “there” ) to the whole world, when it should be sacred for her husband on her wedding day…wow, blows my mind.

I hear the arguments now.  No I am not saying everyone who wears a see through gown will get divorced.  I wish that on no one.  And yes, I realize most of us show off that much at the beach or pool in our bathing suits.  I guess the see through wedding dress just irks me.

What are your thoughts?

7.22.13

Proverbs 20:6-7

Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?  The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.

Marriage:

Marriage used to be sacred, used to be taken seriously, used to be forever.  It should be.  It is called to be.  It isn’t anymore.

I (sadly) often wonder how many brides and grooms go to the altar these days pledging to love and adore their spouse until death do they part, or someone better comes along.  I wonder if brides and grooms these days expect forever.  It is heartbreaking.  I expect forever, my friends expect forever, but forever isn’t always what occurs.

So many of our friends now are experiencing the pain of affairs and divorce.  It is horrendous to watch and be up close and personal with.  There are so many pains in this world, but I cannot fathom facing one where you lose your best friend, the one who is supposed to carry you through the bad times or at least bear them with you.  God of course is ever present.  It is still so hard.

I blame the selfishness we as a people have acquired over the years.  So many horrible decisions are made in the here and the now.  “This feels good now, I should do it.  My kids, wife, family, friend, etc all come in second to how I am feeling.  It is all about me.  I should be able to do anything I want and not deal with the consequences.”  This way of thinking causes issues in marriages, in unplanned pregnancies, in drinking and driving, in drugs, in every sinful area of life.  I despise this way of thinking.  And I say that knowing I am not perfect and my thoughts are not perfect.

Whether or not you are a Bible believer (of course you know I am), the rules and laws of the Bible do prevent a lot of pain if they are followed.  And they don’t prevent a lot of fun as many tend to believe.

I am thankful for my faithful husband.  I am more thankful for my faithful God!  And I pray all the time that my children may grow up caring for others over themselves and that they may spend eternity with their Holy God.

3.4.13

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
Romans 2:1
I don’t ever feel like I am better than anyone else, but I know sometimes I don’t understand others ways and my first thought is not always in their favor.  USUALLY I reprimand myself for that thought, but I would rather it not be there to begin with.  None of us is perfect, none of us is without fault.  I pray that I am humble enough to live this way AND think this way.

Wasabi Peas and other random thoughts

Yesterday as I was going about my day…cleaning clothes, buying food, dispensing medicine, wiping faces, taxiing to the dentist, lifting weights, running on machines, creating meals, teaching children, watching the news…you know, just living life…my mind meandered along as did I.  These are a few of the thoughts that rambled around in my mind.  A few could be blogged in more detail at a later date, but for now, enjoy, if you choose, a bit of my meandering thoughts from my meandering day.

* “Will my children ever wear the clothes on the bottom of the drawer?”

Laundry is done so frequently at our house that I have to force myself to be creative with my kids’ clothes and not just grab what is on the top of the pile…otherwise they will wear the same thing every other day.

* “Loving someone does not mean condoning their actions.”

There are people in our lives that do things completely against anything we could imagine, but they still need love…maybe more than the people who hold our same values.

* “Disagreeing with someone or something does not mean hate.”

This thought came to me when watching the news where people are set up to answer questions about their beliefs and if they don’t line up with someone else’s can be interpreted as hate.  I am thankful for the few who don’t sacrifice their values just to be pleasing to the crowd.

* “Shin splints stink!”

This is self-explanatory.

* “Worshipping solo in my car is awesome!”

No one can hear my horrid vocals!

* “I love when others complement my kids.”

Not in a prideful way, but sometimes I feel like I am hard on my kids all day long, so it is nice to praise them and have others praise them as well.

* “WASABI PEAS!”

Why haven’t I tried these before?  They just might be one of my top 5 favorite foods now!

* “I am so thankful my family puts up with me.”

God has blessed me with such an amazing family and I am glad to be a part of it!

* “I am so thankful my Lord puts up with me!”

This needs no explanation, but is thought multiple times a day!
