How Did We Get Here?

It is a simple question.  The answer is really just as simple…we, as a country, have turned away from God.  In this ever-changing world, change is the obsession…what is faster, flashier, eye catching…not boring.  A year ago I would have said, “but truth is truth…apples are apples, oranges are oranges, what goes up must come down”…but in a world where we let first graders decide that they are not the gender they were born as, how can I convince anyone that an apple is still an apple and that truth is still truth?

The truth is our country was built on biblical foundations.

The truth is if I jump off a building, without a go-go gadget copter, I will fall.

The truth is an apple is an apple and an orange is an orange.

The truth is if you live in this country and you are an American,  you should respect the country and the people who defend it by standing up for the National Anthem…and knowing the words doesn’t hurt.

The truth is drugs will kill you eventually if you keep using them, and they will surely hurt those who love you until, and probably after, you stop using them.

The truth is you are the gender you are born as, yes changes can be made after, but not before, and those changes tell God that He made a mistake (a slippery slope).

The truth is abortion is taking the life of a human being.

The truth is we are all sinners, and should love each other regardless of what we think of their personal choices.

Why am I saying all this?  I am saying all of this in a last desperate attempt to keep America from voting for someone who is going to take our country far away from it started…and not for the better.

The truth is Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Gary Johnson, Jill Stein are all sinners, as well…we can’t vote for any of them as individuals.  We need to look past those individuals to their teams (who are also imperfect).  Stein and her team stand for practically everything the Bible stands against.  Johnson has a nice appeal, but he supports pro-choice, and he supports staying out of people’s lives when it comes to drugs.  Its a nice view…the government shouldn’t be too involved in our personal choices…but their has to be a line somewhere, or before long it will be our personal choice whether or not we rob banks or murder.  Being a teacher and knowing the heartache of the kids who have lost a parent to drugs, seeing babies in the hospital fight for their lives because they are addicted to drugs at birth, proves that those “personal choices” aren’t just personal.  Hillary Clinton would be in jail today if she was a normal person like the rest of us, but seems to be the front runner to lead the country…what does that say about us?  Donald Trump is arrogant and obnoxious.  He has made some horrible choices in his life.  I would not recommend you vote for him if it were solely him you were voting for.  BUT…he has surrounded himself with a team of people who have morals and values…and who will try to get this country a little bit closer to where it was when it began.

I want my kids to grow up in a world that is closer to the way the country was when I was growing up…or even before then!  I do not want my kids to be part of the downward spiral the country has been on…and the last decade it has been on fast forward.

The truth is, in this country where I have freedom of speech, this blog could be considered hate…which is so far from what it is.  It is speaking truth in love.  It is a mom’s desperate plea to make the world a little more safe, a little more truthful, a little better for my children and all children growing up in this world.  It is loving people no matter what, in hopes that they will return the favor to me, knowing that it is my job as a Christian to show Christ’s love.  Knowing that He died for me and everyone knowing how crazy this world would get.  Knowing that He died for us…us…us who think we can plan and make things better than He.

And a truthful question is…if Jesus came back today, would we be embarrassed?

COMMITMENT

There was a time when a person’s word meant everything.  It was trusted because it marked a person’s character.  If you could keep your word you were a good friend and a reliable employee.  Neighbors wanted to be with you and not with the person who snubbed them in the past.

There was a time when people craved commitment and having a purpose.  It was not long ago that while a great deal of people had begun not to care about those things anymore, a great presence of people still wanted to have meaning in their life.  In the past decade those numbers have dwindled at an alarming rate.

There was a time when people had values.  Some would argue that values have simply changed, but there is a harsh difference in a “changed value” and no value at all.

I have given the lives of my children to God.  I know He has a purpose for their lives.  I also am all too aware that my job is to raise them up in the way that they should go.  A job that I cannot do alone.  A job that is really God working through me and my husband.  I pray for their salvation constantly, and for them to not fall into the millions of options of temptation that are around every corner.

I am tired of people doing what they want just because they can.  I am tired of selfishness and looking out for number one.  I am sorry if life isn’t always perfect, but big news is that no one’s life is perfect.  Putting things and self first is not going to change that.  I am tired of the “cool” people (from age 5-95) being cool because of all the “stuff” they have or all the places they have gone or stunts they have pulled.

Why isn’t it “cool” to raise a family? To commit to serving others? To lead people to Christ and know that they will live for eternity in His presence?  Last I checked eternity is infinitely longer than are lives on earth…for real.

Moms and Dads may live the most exciting lives in all actuality.  Most parents have children that turn their hair gray from time to time…or 10 times a day.  We are always riding on the brink of disaster.  😉

I am not knocking fancy houses and cars, being promoted at your company or traveling the world.  All those are wonderful things.  I am challenging everyone everywhere to put people first.  Keep your word, keep your promises, stay with your families even if it means sacrificing, don’t let a little pain make you run from the things you once loved.

Most importantly, love God, follow Jesus, trust in the Holy Spirit to guide you.  Stand firm in your faith.  If you don’t know Jesus, find out about Him and ask Him to show you the way.  HAVE PURPOSE IN YOUR LIFE, don’t just follow the next “cool” guy or chase after the next best thing.  Make a life you can be proud to say you lived and proud for others’ to see.  Make a life that the next generation will want to live and pray for a revival in our nation.

Alex Cross revisited

I decided not to continue to post about Alex Cross books.  I will continue to read them because they are a series and I “have to know” how they end.  However, my posts about the books are pretty much the same.  Mostly because his books are similar, as are many that are in a series.  I will say from what I have read I probably am against most of James Patterson’s values and beliefs.  I do not at all like his language, and his books are pretty predictable.  BUT, I like the mystery and the action of his books, and as I said before , I want to follow it through to the end.  So, this is my last post on this series, but I will finish it out.

Taking things for granted

**Warning…this post may seem to jump from topic to topic, but all pieces are connected**

This is the first fall in a long time that isn’t giving me a feeling of dread.  Usually I get a little weary with the approach of the frigid temps, no matter how beautiful the snow may be.  The older I get, the more I dread the cold.  This year I am embracing fall and hope to embrace the winter as well…cold and all.  It could be because, though the summer flew by, we did a lot as a family.  We accomplished a lot, enjoyed a lot and gave thanks for a lot of things that went the right way.  Was it perfect?  Well, we have the ups and downs everyone else has…watching friends and loved ones go through various levels of struggle, and experiencing our own life stresses.  However, in the grand scheme of the world and what we truly deserve (which is nothing good) we were extraordinarily blessed this summer and I plan to appreciate each moment that is flying by at a very quick pace.  My kids are growing at the speed of light, and the family gatherings and friend outings are amazing, but are gone in an instant.  I know this is why I am obsessed with the camera.  I want to hold on to life’s treasures.  I am determined to look toward the future without wishing today away and not forgetting the precious memories from the past.

There are so many things we take for granted each day.  In our daily conversation if we make any mention of a mother, father, brother, sister, spouse or child, we have made mention of an amazing gift.  And in the extreme situations where they may not seem like a gift, or truly may not be, hopefully the relationship can be healed in one way or another and both parties can become closer to their Lord and Savior.  If we make mention of a home, bed, food, etc, we have been given so much more than so many others, and more than we deserve.

While talking about the gifts we have been given…let’s just go right into keeping those gifts safe and protected.  Let’s take a moment and think of their future.  Let’s stop and think what the future may hold for them if we don’t vote the right way in November…

I will be the first to admit that there is not a perfect candidate…we are all human and each human has faults.  However, there is one candidate that is more concerned with our children and their future.  In a society that is all about me, in a society that is all about what can you give me for free, in a society of entitlement, let’s just imagine the future.  I want a world for my children where they do not need to carry the burden of the country’s debt that is worsening by the second.  I want a world where my children can stand up for the country in which they live without having to apologize for it.  I want a world where my children can stand up for their faith without having to apologize for it.  I want a world where my children care more about others than themselves.  I want a world where my children will help those in need, but that those people may also want to help themselves.  I want a world where there is accountability for actions.  I want a world where people think before they act.  I want a world where people think period.  I want a world where people may not think it okay for their daughters and sons to sleep with anyone at anytime just because it would make them happy for a couple minutes, days or weeks.  I want a world where all children, born or unborn, are sacred.  I want a world with leaders that think more about their people than themselves.  I want I want I want…words I usually correct my children for saying.  I am continuously telling them to be happy with what that have and thank God for it.  I am happy with being free, I am happy to be a Christian and I do thank God for the blessings in my life…I pray that my children may be able to have a stable future in this country.  Please, this election, vote for a change…a real change…a change that will better the lives of our children, a change that will give them hope for the future.  Even if there are things you don’t like about Romney, he is concerned about the American people.  He may not give you everything you want for free.  He may not make you feel good when you mess up.  But he wants a stable country for the future.  He wants the country to be a better place for all of us.  Vote, vote, vote and  vote for values.

Okay, so jumping way back up to the top and appreciating life, I wanted to add this song by Nichole Nordeman…appreciate today, thank God for today, and have a blessed day!

Every Season by Nichole Nordeman

Every evening sky, an invitation
To trace the patterned stars
And early in July, a celebration
For freedom that is ours
And I notice You
In children’s games
In those who watch them from the shade
Every drop of sun is full of fun and wonder
You are summer

And even when the trees have just surrendered
To the harvest time
Forfeiting their leaves in late September
And sending us inside
Still I notice You when change begins
And I am braced for colder winds
I will offer thanks for what has been and was to come
You are autumn

And everything in time and under heaven
Finally falls asleep
Wrapped in blankets white, all creation
Shivers underneath
And still I notice you
When branches crack
And in my breath on frosted glass
Even now in death, You open doors for life to enter
You are winter

And everything that’s new has bravely surfaced
Teaching us to breathe
What was frozen through is newly purposed
Turning all things green
So it is with You
And how You make me new
With every season’s change
And so it will be
As You are re-creating me
Summer, autumn, winter, spring

Research and Vote

I have a plea for the American people…Don’t just vote…research and vote!  Find out what kind of world you want your children, spouses, siblings, grandchildren to live in.   Find out what kind of world you want to live in.  Then find the candidate that represents your values.  Also, please find out what is in the constitution…for real…not what is implied or completely false.  I am hopeful that you know that separation of church and state is not anywhere in the constitution…but I know many are unaware of that.

Last election many voted for a candidate believing that they voted for someone who held their values, but in reality did not.  They liked how a certain person sounded or they heard what they wanted to hear, but at the end of the day, did not agree with the candidate.  I am not solely addressing the presidential candidates, but every person on your ballot.  Yes, it will take time.  Yes, it may get confusing separating truth and lies.  YES, it is worth it to vote for the RIGHT person for the job.  Each job is important.  Many laws are passed that we do not get to vote on…big things…but the people we elect choose whether or not they pass.  This means we need to vote carefully for every office.

Last election many Christians did not vote…PLEASE VOTE and PLEASE VOTE VALUES!  Remember what our country was founded on, remember how people lived, think of what you want the future to be.

This is a big election…make your vote count!
