weekly update

My weight is back up…ugh!  The roller coaster of this is craziness!  I know part of it is eating…we had chocolate in the house this week…bad news.  But I also think part of it is muscle, because my body fat percentage is still low…and I can see definition of muscle.

EITHER WAY, my goal jeans are crazy crazy tight right now, and whether I need to lose the fat or the muscle (likely a combo)…it needs to be done.

My plan of action is to do 30-45 minutes of cardio 6 days a week and 30-45 minutes of weights or other exercise 6 days a week.

I am also going to follow the Quick and Clean Diet book by Dari Alexander for the next 2 weeks.  I think it will help me stay on track with clean eating.  When I do well with clean eating, my body notices.

And as always, I know that keeping my inside clean, as in spiritually, kindness, bettering myself as a person, is far more important than the vanity of the outside, so I have been trying to be better about longer devotional times, more genuine prayers and have been reading a bunch of awesome books that I will post about when I am finished.  I have about 10 going right now, a page at a time, so it will be awhile before they make it to the book review page, but we will get there.

Anyone who wants to can join me…we can keep each other accountable.

Destined to Weight

So…I think I am being taught some kind of vanity lesson or something.  Although I am not one to fuss and primp, I do like to be in shape and I do some crazy workout routines sometimes.  But, as you all know ALL TO WELL, things have been backfiring for me in that area.  I try to eat healthy and it makes me gain weight.  I try a different route to be healthy…and it makes me gain weight.  I eat unhealthily and I lose weight.  What?  Fruits and veggies and wheat do not seem to be my friend at the moment, but I will hopefully know more tomorrow.

My BMI is still super healthy and I still fit in my normal sizes, though tightly, but my weight has changed…and not for the better.  (sigh)

So I wait for the answers to hopefully help in bringing down my weight and what happens in the meantime you ask….?

In the meantime, as in the past couple weeks, my foot has been sore.  Every now and then it swells up slightly, no big deal…until Easter weekend.  Easter weekend my foot puffed up like a balloon and as of today the Dr told me to baby it.  (sigh again).  And so I have to wait for my foot to heal.  This will not assist me in my weight loss.

So I wait for my approved foods, I wait for my foot to heal, I wait for my weight.  Maybe I am destined to be this weight forever.  Who that be so bad?  No.  But I want to succeed in my goal.  🙂

weekly update (late) and stuff

I feel slightly guilty or vain ( not sure of the wording) dedicating so much thought to the weekly updates.  Please know I KNOW there are far more important things in the world…pretty much anything.  BUT…being healthy is a good thing and so I will continue to post the updates.

I am still avoiding the scale because my clothes are still tight.  blah!

However, I have gone to 1 dr, gotten my first round of bloodwork underway and have appts for the next dr and bloodwork lined up, so hopefully answers will come soon.  I also know for 100% certainty some food which cause me to swell up, have allergic reactions or both.

Now that those things are under way a bit, the testing and feeling sick stage is over, though I am heavier, I have a better plan.  And part of that plan is to get back on track with normal and healthy eating, consistent eating, consistent workouts.

As of tomorrow I am putting myself on Cassey Ho’s 90 day meal plan.  I will only stay on it as long as I need to get to my goal.  I am also going to do 3 of her mini workouts a day along with elliptical and weight training.  This is not as time consuming as one may think.  Just requires early rising.  Most importantly I am making my goal of devotion/Bible/quiet time to happen before I exercise…start the day right.

I have made a couple modifications to her meals to avoid foods I know I react to.  I will be staying in the 1200-1300 calorie range.  I will be eating primarily veggies and protein with some fruits mixed in.  One day a week I will allow myself a cheat item (not an entire meal).  I really want to get my body back AND get my healthy eating habits back.

Otherwise things here are going well.  We had a few years of people around us falling apart and the past few weeks we have gotten some great news and prayer answers!  🙂

We are beginning to read the Narnia Chronicles to our kids…a little every night starting with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, of course.  We are all enjoying it.

No complaints, but summer is soon, so gotta get in shape!  🙂

Weekly Update

Here are the stats for the week:

So I finally lost a pound!  Crazy it took so long…and then I celebrated, so probably put it all back on.  Oh dear.

BMI is now between 20.3 and 20.6 pending on the scale.  🙂

Body fat is now between 14 and 23 %, which is the same as last week but more are closer to 14 than 23.  🙂

I am happy with my progress, hope I didn’t ruin it completely and hope to make more progress for the next update.

In similar news…

I have been dancing around giving up artificial sweeteners for awhile.  I know they are bad for you.  I know (no matter what anyone says) sticking all those chemicals inside of your body is not okay.  I have rationalized my consumption of them, because they are low calorie and make me think I am full for awhile.  So, this week I got rid of the diet soda (again, I have done this before) and I am hoping to give up gum as well.  I even gave up Egg Beaters unless they are purely egg whites there is no reason to eat eggs from a box that is filled with 25 other ingredients.  I know I will still have artificial ingredients in certain things, but baby steps work better for me than cold turkey.  The binge monster strikes when I go cold turkey on anything food related.

I have also been playing the size game…I have my size goal, but what is that really?  I do wish there was an accurate size system across the board.  I ordered pants this week following the company’s size chart and ordered 2 different sizes.  Both sizes fit…normally.  How does that work?  The size number has gone down in current years.  It isn’t that people are thinner, just that the measurements for a size 10 in the past are the same as the measurements for a current size 2, I believe.  On the flip side, while I know there is a great deal of vanity sizing there comes a point when the concern of it all has to stop.  There has to be more newsworthy information than making people feel like they are thinner or heavier than they really are.

My 2 cents on that long sidebar…if you are concerned with size, make a measurement goal and a weight goal for yourself.  If you want to, you can even make a body fat percentage goal for yourself.  Unless  I am mistaken I think tape measures are still right on the mark.  😉

But, if you still really want to know some info…I researched some this week.  H and M seems to be the most accurate in terms of measurement and size.  Their size 2 is about 23.5 inch waist with a 33 hip and size 4 is about 25 inches in the waist with 34.5 hip.  Size 4 at H and M is a size 0 at Dockers and a size 1 at Old Navy.  The Gap has a size 0 at 24 inch waist and a 36.5 inch hip and a size 2 at a 25 in waist and 37 inch hip.  I think H and M is most accurate, because I think that very few women should be in a size 0.  Realistically it isn’t healthy for most, with the exception being if you are in a vanity size 0 which could be a 4 or 6 in normal sizing.  I am much more into measurements than size these days, but was in an A-Type mood, so thought I would share.  😉

Oh yeah…one last little tidbit from the week…I overworked my back and shoulders a little bit, which is really pathetic since my arms are not very strong, but alas…anyway, Icy Hot patches are amazing!  Love them!  🙂

Be back next week for another update.  🙂
